You can Go Home

So I went back to Jersey two weeks ago. Got to see the grandparents and my little cousin and my anut. Then off to see the friends. Seeing all was great, catching up and having laughs. Sharing my travels and making plans for the future. And to top it ll off it was the same night the yankees won the world series....not exciting for me, I'm not a baseball fan.
Then off to Maine to see my parents new place and the lot that will soon be my parents new retirement home. The drive was long from NJ to ME, 7 hours the nice thing was it was in my moms new subaru. I remember spending a week or so down in NC with my grandparents in their log cabin in the mountains. It is funny how my parents are now taking on the retirement lifestyle and having the mountain house.
My dad and I spent time clearing the brush and taking down some trees on the property. Then mom showed up and we had lunch in the future home. The two older guys who live on the lake behind my parents came for a few hours to cut and take all the pine trees away for their own homes to use as firewood.  Things are different up in the small towns. People share...my dad allows those guy to take the pine and the guys let my dad the use of their ATV. Its refreshing to visit those places were things are slower and nobody is in a rush.
Its like my job. When I'm out in the field the busy life in the "real world"  stops and things are simple, collect wood, eat, sleep, repeat. Just living, in the field or in a small town, really makes me believe that there is some hope left in this world.
